F**K ACID HOUSE THIS IS ACID JAZZ
Chris Bangs

"F**k Acid House, this is Acid Jazz…. " and with those very words, DJ Chris Bangs kicked off the whole crazy scene.
Always preferring to stay in the background and orchestrate chaos through
music, Bangs chose for his first pseudonym the name Extasis (purloined from
a classic 70's Ibizan nightclub), and the non-de-plume was to be a common
theme…The Quiet Boys, Johnny Dayglo and Nirvana (watch out Kurt Cobain
– the law suit is still pending!), Prophet 5, Layzee Muthas, BE Someone,
Break 4
Jazz and Too Darn Hot all made an appearance on Acid Jazz and the best is
included here.
In his youth guitarist and singer with legendary Gong/Hawkwind clones The Mighty Om, then a well respected DJ for many years, he had partnered Peterson at Nicky Holloway's Special Branch and had been a guiding light to both Gilles and just about any other aspiring jazz or soul DJ in the south of England. Chris was firmly embedded in the scene; he had designed the label logo, chosen its name and was soon working in the studio on his initial recordings.
