Acid Jazz superstars Mother Earth have some great news to impart this month...Amid a plethora of rumours, the band have announced that they are re forming to do some gigs culminating in a European Tour to promote their forthcoming album 'The Further Adventures Of...' Acid Jazz News can reveal that the group met up for the first time in over a year last week to plan their forthcoming shows. The lineup can be confirmed as MATT DEIGHTON, (vocals and lead guitar), NEIL CORCORAN, (bass guitar) |
BRYN BARKLAM (Hammond and Wurlitzer) and CHRIS WHITE (Drums), former female vocalist Xan Aberatne resumes her position and a number of other past members have expressed an interest in getting involved. The band intend to start with a warmup at a private festival in Oxfordshire this month and then play some UK shows in September and Europe later in the year. A US tour (the bands first) is being arranged for the new year. The eagerly awaited new album (released on the 26th of JULY) has already recieved a rave review in Record Collector with many more to come over the next couple of months. BBC 6Music (the London based digital and internet station) have been heavily behind the album (which features 6Music presenter TOM ROBINSON on a version of his POWER IN THE DARKNESS track). The album features some of the great unreleased moments from the bands career, with guests like the aforementioned Robinson, Paul Weller (on harmonica), Andy Bell (from Ride and Oasis), Bernardo Custarde (Santana), Graham Day (from The Prisoners), Dee Cee Lee (whose vocal features on the first ever remix from Weller's producer Brendan Lynch - the as yet unheard Jesse Gospadelic Dub mix) as well as a host of other unreleased material with the likes of vocalists Matt Woodman, Xan and the now infamous Kym Marsh. |

JARVIS HUMBY Album AJXCD 166
It’s time to put on those clumpy white stack heel shoes, pull down your American tan tights half-mast and reveal those carpet burns, assume the position ‘cos it’s Jarvis Humby. For those of you who are not familiar with these suburban Casanovas, Jarvis Humby are the lovers of women and women love the Humby. When not writhing in the snake pit, they enjoy playing musical equipment. Starting life as an out & out Garage / R'n'B outfit, about 5 years ago, playing material inspired by the likes of Bo Diddley, The Rolling Stones circa ‘64, Dr. Feelgood & The Prisoners. The band name was borrowed from a bloke the first drummer worked with at the M.O.D., who dressed exactly like Mr. Benn (bowler hat & all) but with a ginger Afro (true). After playing around with the line up, searching for "their sound". They hit gold and released their debut single on Detour Records, which became extremely popular right across Europe especially in Bulgaria where the members are known as Jarvis “Flukinburger” Humby.
Active gigging, the length & breadth of their own country from Ramsgate to Aberdeen & everywhere in between (excluding Halifax and Chipping Onger) has built up a solid live following. Playing this kind of music because its the sort of stuff that turns the band into trouser arousering love Zebras regardless of whether it’s in vogue, the band have found themselves in the middle of a garage punk revival.
Seen on the psych scene as the debauched cohorts of Zodiac Mindwarp due to their aftershow drink fights. The lanky four-piece now play a raw hybrid of demon soul & punked-out garage, with screaming Hammond, guitar fuzz, bloodthirsty vocals & a rhythm section that's tighter than Tom Thumb's arsehole!
Sweet Snarl Music!!
